Taber RNs: Playing a Key Role in Changing Health-Care Delivery

If other areas of the province adopt the Taber Health Project (THP) model, registered nurses (RNs) deserve much of the credit for its success. In this southern Alberta municipality of 14,000, RNs are introducing residents to RNs who play an expanded role in their health care and help provide more streamlined health-care services.

"The nurses involved played a huge role in the project's success," says Eileen Patterson, the project co-coordinator who facilitated the initiative through its first four years of development. "The strength of the leadership provided by the RNs cannot be overemphasized.
